Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule
The official list below lists reserved time periods, not confirmed exams. Please confirm with your instructor if the final exam for a course will be conducted during this time.

Locations
The Exam Schedule lists the locations where DEP conducts operator qualification exams. Exam pages for each exam are available for additional guidelines, terms and conditions and exam information. If you require special accommodations due to a chronic illness, visual or hearing impairment, you should contact the exam provider directly and make sure to provide detailed documentation at the time of registration.
Faculty may find their exam times via the "View My Teaching Schedule" task on the Faculty Dashboard in Workday. Additionally, the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for courses in which an exam is required by NYSED regulations. Final exams for evening classes are scheduled during the regular class time of the final examination weeks.

Registration
Students are encouraged to consult the exam schedule online. However it is crucial to note that the final exam schedule can change at any time. This is why students should check with their instructors to make sure they have the correct date and time for their test. Students should also print the official list of questions to bring with them to their exam.
In addition to the exam schedule, students should familiarize themselves with the exam guidelines and terms and conditions. These can be found on the website for each exam. Students acknowledge having read and agreed to the terms and conditions upon registration.
Exam sites try their best to accommodate those with special needs. The nature and the extent of these needs should be stated on the registration form and confirmed by a physician's attestation. The exam locations must also be able to respect confidentiality and keep it.
If a student has three examinations scheduled for the same day it is recommended that they contact their department or instructor to schedule an alternate exam. It is possible to have three examinations on the same day. However, this could lead to a high level of stress and impact the quality of the exam. The professor might not be able to offer a makeup test on another day.

Before taking the exam Students must prepare for the exam by reviewing their syllabus and practice their German skills. The test is a paper-based test which assesses the ability to speak, read, and write in German. The exam results are reported on a scale of A1 to C2. Students who successfully pass the test receive a Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate certifies the achievement of language level A1. This level is the first level of the six-level scale of competence that is outlined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The exam is free of cost. Students must bring a valid government-issued ID to the test. Anyone who does not have an ID with a valid photo are disqualified from the exam.
Fees
You'll need to pay an exam fee in order to obtain the Goethe-Zertifikat (start German 1) after you have completed your Elan Academy studies. This is in addition to the cost of the course.
Practice assessments provide you with an overview of the style of the questions, their wording and the level of questions on the test. They allow you to assess your level, discover areas of knowledge that aren't covered and increase your chances of passing the exam.
It is important to note that the exam fee isn't refundable. Exam results are only available via email and not by phone.
